अमेरिका में अगला राष्ट्रपति कौन?

अमेरिका में रिपब्लिकन पार्टी की भारतवंशी नेता निक्की हेली ने सन् 2024 में होने वाले राष्ट्रपति चुनाव में अपनी दावेदारी के लिए औपचारिक रूप से अभियान की शुरुआत कर दी है। इसके साथ ही, उन्होंने एक समय अपने नेता रहे और पूर्व राष्ट्रपति डोनाल्ड ट्रंप के मुकाबले खुद को एक युवा और नये विकल्प के रूप में पेश किया है। वर्तमान में कमला हैरिस अमेरिका की उपराष्ट्रपति हैं । अमेरिकी राष्ट्रपति जो वाइडन ने अभी यह साफ नहीं किया है कि वह दोबारा राष्ट्रपति चुनाव लड़ेंगे या नहीं इसलिए माना जा सकता है कि कमला हैरिस भी राष्ट्रपति चुनाव में उतर सकती हैं। ऐसे में यदि कमला हैरिस और निक्की हेली के बीच अमेरिकी राष्ट्रपति पद के लिए मुकाबला होता है तो वह बड़ा रोचक होगा क्योंकि दोनों ही भारतीय मूल की अमेरिकी हैं।
जहां तक निक्की हेली की बात है तो आपको बता दें कि 51 वर्षीय यह अमेरिकी राजनीतिज्ञ दक्षिण कैरोलिना की दो बार गवर्नर रही हैं और संयुक्त राष्ट्र में अमेरिका की राजदूत रह चुकी हैं। उन्होंने इस सप्ताह दक्षिण कैरोलिना में एक कार्यक्रम के दौरान अपने उत्साहित समर्थकों को संबोधित करते हुए घोषणा की कि एक मजबूत अमेरिका के लिए, एक गौरवशाली अमेरिका के लिए, मैं संयुक्त राज्य अमेरिका के राष्ट्रपति पद की दौड़ में शामिल हो गई हूं। उन्होंने कहा, जब अमेरिका उतार-चढ़ाव से गुजरता है, तो दुनिया कम सुरक्षित हो। जाती है और आज, हमारे दुश्मन सोचते हैं कि अमेरिका का युग बीत चुका है। लेकिन वे गलत हैं। निक्की हेली ने कहा, अगर हम 20वीं सदी के राजनेताओं पर भरोसा करते रहे तो हम 21वीं सदी की लड़ाई । नहीं जीत पाएंगे। उन्होंने कहा कि मैं अप्रवासियों की बेटी के रूप में, एक लड़ाकू योद्धा की गौरवमयी पत्नी के रूप में और दो अद्भुत बच्चों की मां के रूप में आपके सामने खड़ी हूं। निक्की हेली ने कहा है कि अमेरिकियों को देश में नयी पीढ़ी के नेता की जरूरत है ।
हेली और ट्रंप, दोनों रिपब्लिकन पार्टी से हैं। राष्ट्रपति चुनाव की प्रक्रिया में शामिल होने से पहले निक्की हेली को रिपब्लिकन पार्टी की ‘प्रेसीडेंशियल प्राइमरी’ में जीत हासिल करनी होगी, जो अगले साल जनवरी में होने का कार्यक्रम है। हम आपको यह भी बता दें कि अमेरिकी राष्ट्रपति चुनाव पांच नवम्बर, 2024 को होना है। जहां तक निक्की हेली के परिचय की बात है तो आपको बता दें कि निक्की उर्फ निमरत निक्की रंधावा का जन्म प्रवासी पंजाबी सिख परिवार में हुआ था।
निक्की हेली का जन्म सिख माता- पिता अजीत सिंह रंधावा और राज कौर रंधावा के यहां हुआ था, जो 1960 के दशक में पंजाब से कनाडा गए और फिर अमेरिका आकर बस गए थे। निक्की हेली एक सिख महिला के तौर पर बड़ी हुई, लेकिन 1996 में माइकल हेली से शादी के बाद उन्होंने ईसाई धर्म अपना लिया। अमेरिका में अपने जीवन के बारे में बताते हुए उन्होंने कहा, मेरे माता-पिता ने बेहतर जीवन की तलाश में भारत छोड़ा। वे यहां वामबर्ग, साउथ कैरोलिना में बसे, जिसकी आबादी 2,500 थी। हमारा छोटा शहर हमसे प्यार करने लगा, लेकिन यह हमेशा आसान नहीं था। हमारा परिवार एकमात्र भारतीय परिवार था। कोई नहीं जानता था कि हम कौन थे, हम क्या थे, या हम यहां क्यों आए थे। उन्होंने कहा, लेकिन मेरे माता-पिता जानते थे। और हर दिन, उन्होंने मुझे, मेरे भाइयों और मेरी बहन को याद दिलाया कि हमारे सबसे बुरे दिन में भी, हम अमेरिका में रहने के लिए धन्य हैं।
वे सन् 2024 में होने वाले राष्ट्रपति चुनाव के लिए अपनी उम्मीदवारी की औपचारिक घोषणा करने के बाद सार्वजनिक भाषण में चीन को कड़ी चेतावनी दी और अपने दुश्मनों के खिलाफ खड़े रहेंगे। सोवियत संघ की तरह, साम्यवादी चीन इतिहास के राख के ढेर में मिल जायेगा। निक्की हेली ने कहा, चीन के तानाशाह दुनिया को कम्युनिस्ट अत्याचार में झोंकना चाहते हैं। और हम ही उन्हें रोक सकते हैं। मैं साफतौर पर कहना चाहूंगी। अगर हम 20वीं सदी के नेताओं पर भरोसा करते रहेंगे तो हम 21वीं सदी की लड़ाई नहीं जीत पायेंगे। उन्होंने कहा, अमेरिका असमंजस, विभाजन और आत्म-विनाश के रास्ते पर है । निक्की हैली जनवरी 2011 में 39 साल की उम्र में जब उन्होंने गर्वनर का पदभार ग्रहण किया, तब वह इस पद पर आसीन होने वाली अमेरिका की सबसे कम उम्र की गवर्नर थीं। उन्होंने दक्षिण कैरोलिना की पहली महिला गवर्नर बनकर इतिहास रचा था।
